Chapter 01 · The idea
Nobody ever chosea plant for itsflavour.
One hundred years of plant breeding chased yield, shelf life and resistance. Never taste. La Vie can be the first company on earth to place that order.

The method
An unstable narrative is a story a company still tells out loud after it has quietly stopped being true.
It held up once. It produced growth. It became an identity. And it kept getting repeated long after reality moved.
So this is the opposite of a brand audit. We are not looking for what works in order to protect it. We are looking for the five or six sentences everybody repeats in meetings without checking them, testing them against the numbers, and seeing which ones snap.
A brand is not built on what is stable. Stable is already occupied. It is built on the fault line.
Where the fault line is
La Vie is winning on somebody else's scale.
Everything the brand says is measured against meat. On that scale the best available score is "almost". Pork, beef and chicken will remain the reference for meaty taste. That is not a fight you win, it is a fact you work with.

“The category's problem was never getting somebody to try. It has always been giving them a reason to come back a twelfth time.”
The insight
Breeding knows how to subtract. It never learned to compose.

The mission
We grow flavour.
Faire pousser le goût.
Not a tagline. A verb. You can do it or fail to do it, and it can be measured. R&D grows flavour. Procurement grows the acres that carry it. Sales grow its availability. Finance funds the growing. It is entirely positive: no enemy, no guilt, no reference to the animal.
For a hundred years, nobody grew a plant because it tasted good.
They grew it because it yielded more. Because it survived the truck. Because it kept for eleven days instead of nine.
When they did think about flavour, it was only ever to take something away. A hundred years of breeding the bitterness out of a lupin. Not one year spent putting something in.
There are more than a hundred thousand peas sleeping in the world's seed banks. Four in five have never even been described. Nobody has tasted them.
We think that is the single strangest fact in food.
So we are going to taste them. All of them, if it takes us thirty years.
We grow flavour. That is the whole company.
